Mighty Leaf Tea – Organic African Nectar

Taste Profile
Mighty Leaf Tea’s new Organic African Nectar tea uses African Rooibos leaves teeming with tropical fruit and blossoms. It creates a palatal journey to the fertile tropics with all the savory flavors of fruits from the “alluring continent” of Africa.

First Introduced to US
The launch of the new Organic African Nectar is slated for Spring 2008 for food service and Fall 2008 for retail. Mighty Leaf Tea launched in 1999 in San Francisco.

Origin
Mighty Leaf Tea’s new Organic African Nectar is designed with rooibos leaves from South Africa.

Health Elements
Rooibos is rich in antioxidants and minerals. According to folk medicine that is still practiced in South Africa, a mother will drink rooibos and breastfeed her child sick with colic to lull them to sleep. Additionally, for those in the midst of chemotherapy, rooibos helps stave away nausea post-chemo.

Available Sizes and Retail
A box of 15 Tea Pouches is priced for a suggested retail of $8.95.

Mighty Leaf Tea – Organic Detox Infusion

Taste Profile
Mighty Leaf Tea’s new Detox Infusion is a luscious, detoxifying herbal infusion highlighted by clean notes of mint and basil. Your next spa retreat comes in a cup.

First Introduced to US
The launch of the new Organic Detox Infusion is slated for Fall 2008. Mighty Leaf Tea launched in 1999 in San Francisco.

Origin
Mighty Leaf Tea’s new Organic Detox is designed with herbs from Germany.

Health Elements
This blend features basil, burdock root, dandelion, red clover flower, peppermint, and licorice to create a refreshing infusion that cleanses our insides. Basil has been used for mild nervous disorders and for the alleviation of wandering rheumatic pains – the dried leaves are said to be a cure for nervous headaches. Infusion of the green herb in boiling water is good for all obstructions of the internal organs as it arrests vomiting and allays nausea. Burdock root has several modern medicinal uses. The plant is rarely used alone and is usually combined with other herbs. Burdock has been used to soothe dry and scaly patches on the skin and scalp, as well as to support digestion and increase appetite. A dandelion’s young leaves are used in tea as a natural diuretic. The roots are a mild laxative and promote bile flow and liver function. Red clover flower may allow for the relief of menopausal symptoms. Red clover’s isoflavones have been shown to have a positive effect on blood pressure in certain populations. Peppermint boasts an antispasmodic action, with a calming effect on the stomach and intestinal tract. As a tea, extract, or in a capsule, peppermint is useful for indigestion, cramp-like discomfort of the upper gastrointestinal and bile duct, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammation or irritation of the gums. Licorice is one of the most extensively researched medicinal and food plants. Studies on licorice have demonstrated positive effects for treatment of various types of ulcers. Others showed that dietary consumption of licorice root extract may help to lower cholesterol and act as an antioxidant.

Available Sizes and Retail
