Beaver Street Fisheries debuted in 1950 as a small, retail fresh fish store on West Beaver Street in Jacksonville, Florida. Together with their mother, brothers Alfred and Hans Frisch worked around the clock to expand their business. With a single truck, they procured a variety of fish from both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts by night, delivering their product fresh to Jacksonville area hotels, restaurants and grocery stores by day. From such a modest beginning over four decades ago, Beaver Street Fisheries had grown rapidly to become one of the top seafood suppliers in the United States.
What began as a company of only a handful of employees more than fifty years ago has grown into one of over four hundred dedicated men and women today. The Frischs still scour the coasts for the finest seafood available, only now the coasts are those of over fifty countries worldwide, not just Florida. Purchases have increased from several hundred pounds of any one given item to several container loads. To accommodate this rapid growth, it is not surprising that Beaver Street Fisheries soon relocated from the small retail store that gave them their start to a modern warehouse facility covering over two city blocks and housing a USDC inspected seafood processing plant.
While much has changed, much has stayed the same. Beaver Street has consistently invested in itself, building upon decades of experience in the seafood industry. With an impeccable reputation for quality and an unwavering commitment to service, Beaver Street has established itself as a leader in the seafood industry. This success which has carried Beaver Street Fisheries from 1950 through to the present day is unquestionably attributable to the disciplined exercise of a single principle. "Treat the customer as you would a friend, and all else will follow."
